Project Management

The role of the Project Management team within RGA is to provide professional knowledge, skills, tools and techniques which lead to successful implementation of automated underwriting solutions to insurance companies around the world.

Their goal is to give clients the peace of mind to focus on their business, not on managing their implementation team. Project Management is accomplished through the use of processes consistent with the Project Management Institute's PMBOK methodology (Project Management Body of Knowledge).

These processes include:

  • Initiating
  • Planning
  • Executing
  • Controlling
  • Closing

Initiating
Initiation begins when the client signs either a contract or a letter of intent signifying that the proposal and bid have been accepted and that AURA and RGA have been selected as the solution and vendor of choice.

Planning
Plan scope depends on project/program sizing. At a minimum, all projects will undergo at least one comprehensive planning experience with appropriate leadership and project personnel to agree upon Scope, Schedule and Budget. The outcome of the Planning phase will result in several tools:

  • Project PlanCreates detailed tasks and schedules by using Work Breakdown Structures and Critical Path analysis.
  • Quality PlanEstablishes quality benchmarks and quality assurance procedures
  • Communication PlanDetermines communication mediums, frequency and participants
  • Risk Management PlanDocuments potential project risks and assumptions
  • Change Management PlanOutlines Change Management/Configuration Management procedures for agile enhancements to project scope
  • Comprehensive BudgetEstimates the effort and costs of completing the project.

Executing
This phase begins once the Project Management Plan and Budget have been approved.

Controlling
Ongoing oversight and control remains consistent throughout the project time frame
with a constant eye on Scope, Schedule and Budget.

Closing
Closing happens when an RGA client formally accepts the solution. Client Services then turns over support to Production Support team.
